Pietro Pinto MFA Thesis Film | Adam - World Premier at Venice International Critics’ Week

2017

In his first year as an MFA student at SFSU, Pietro produced and directed Rosita, which premiered as part of the Young Italian Directors (I love GAI, SIAE – competition) section at the Venice Film Festival.

Rosita was also awarded Best Cinematography at the Noto International Film Festival in Sicily and the ARC Special Award at the Sardinia Queer Short Film Festival.


Founder, Film School Masterclass Series

Pietro has created an ongoing masterclass series interviewing acclaimed directors and top film professionals in the industry in partnership with UCLA School of Film & TV, CalArts, SFSU, and SFFS.

Assistant to director Marco Bellocchio

During the summer of 2019, Pietro worked as a Line Producer and Assistant Director on Marco Bellocchio’s new short film Se posso permettermi. This was in preparation for Bellocchio’s new long feature film after the success of Il Traditore.


Jerusalem Film Workshop

During the summer 2018, he was selected from 300 applicants to participate in the Jerusalem Film Workshop directing Jerusalem in Between.

The film premiered at the Jerusalem Film Festival and was screened in more than 20 film festivals all over the world.


 

Film Instructor -UCLA, CalArts, SFFS & CSSSA

 

Pietro worked at the Bay Area production company Open Eye Pictures before being offered a MFA program in Cinema at San Francisco State University.

Since 2017, Pietro has been teaching at top US film schools including CalArts, UCLA, and SFFS since 2017.

Pietro now teaches Advanced Directing & Producing at San Francisco Film School and is the Film Chair at the California State Summer School for the Arts.
